THERE WILL NOT BE AN increase in the number of seats in the House of Assembly before the next general election in Barbados constitutionally due in the first half of 2013.
The bipartisan Electoral & Boundaries Commission (EBC), which is chaired by the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP), has reviewed the number and boundaries of the existing 30 constituencies, and on September 7, 2011, submitted a report to Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, who is responsible for elections, stating that in its opinion no alteration was required to either the number of seats or their boundaries.
