Diamonds Challenge Monday
A second time is the charm for horse racing fans.
Washed out by inclement weather a fortnight ago, the Diamonds International/MontBlanc Challenge Series will now officially begin on Monday, Boxing Day, at the Garrison Savannah.
This, along with details of the sponsorship, was revealed yesterday morning at a press conference in the Incitatus Members Lounge at the Garrison Savannah.
Marketing manager of Diamonds, Simone Ward, reiterated the company’s continued support for the sport of kings as well as playing their part in communities across Barbados.
“This year marks the 12th year we at Diamonds International are sponsoring the Diamonds International Challenge Series. Joining us as co-sponsor is international brand MontBlanc, and we will continue to offer our support,” she said at the press conference.
According to Ward, their corporate footprint was of vital importance, and they recognized the strength and role horse racing had in the growth of the Barbados economy.
She also stated that due to rain delays the series could not begin as scheduled on December 3, but there was now a better opportunity to begin on Boxing Day, the second biggest race-day on the country’s horse racing calendar.
“We are very excited to see what comes out on Monday.”
The other days for the series are January 2 and 28.
Ward encouraged locals and visitors to join in and witness the series as it promised to be a good day and fans will also benefit from lots of giveaways from Diamonds Internationals and MontBlanc.
The sponsor’s cheque for the series was presented by Ward to Angela Simpson, a director of the Barbados Turf Club.
Post time on Monday is noon. (BA/LY)
