Looks like the Caribbean Basketball Championships isn’t the only thing Derrick Garrett has early preparations for.
In an effort to wrap up all the domestic competitions by summer’s end, player and club registration for the 2012 Barbados Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) season has already commenced ahead of February’s opening ceremony.
And the process for club registration is slated to close by month-end, although Garrett said his executive is still considering extending the deadline to the middle of January.
“We just don’t want the season to drag out too long as happened this year when we went all down to October,” said the BABA president earlier this week.
“And we’ve already had some positive responses from our coaches and club officials over this early start.”
Under the new transfer system, player registration will close on January 31 and any player seeking to change clubs will be forced to pay an additional fee and have their original club sign the transferral form to complete the process.
