Painful wait for Tomas relief

MICHAEL APPLE PAYNE is feeling left out in the cold after living in his severely damaged house for more than a year.
His house, valued at $75 000, is located in Parish Land, Christ Church and was damaged in October 2010 during Tropical Storm Tomas.
Since then, he has put together a makeshift room in the back of the house to live in. He also uses a pit toilet as well as bathes outside with a hose. He said he has “one light, one tap and no [land line] phone.”
In an interview with the DAILY NATION yesterday, Payne, a caddy at Sandy Lane Golf Course, said he was less concerned about himself and more concerned about his ten-year-old daughter.  (CA)
