Prime?Minister Freundel Stuart may have the last say on the Alexandra School impasse after all.
The controversy reached boiling point yesterday after the president of the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU), Mary Redman, refused to attend a meeting that involved embattled school principal Jeff Broomes and his representatives.
In a statement, Redman underscored her position that she would not be sitting in meetings with Broomes whom the BSTU wants “separated” from the school, or the unions representing him, the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) and the Barbados Association of Principals of Public Secondary Schools (BAPPSS).
“Meeting with the NUPW and BAPPSS cannot solve this situation now. We are beyond that. We have been there, we have done that,” Redman said in a statement explaining her position.
