Torn between two loves

Dear Christine,
I HAVE A PROBLEM which I hope you’d help me with. I am 30 years of age and have been in love with a man for the past five years. He is ten years older than I am. Before I met him, I was in love with another guy, but something happened and we broke up.
Christine, both of these guys are now claiming that they love me, but while I care for my former friend, I really love my present friend even though he is older.
Can someone actually love two people at the same time? I am not going to do anything to hurt my present boyfriend, but at times I find myself thinking about the other guy.
My present boyfriend is extremely nice to me and my family loves him a lot. What should I do?
– A

Dear A,
It is possible to be attracted to more than one person at the same time, but you will always have stronger feelings for just one.
If you truly love that person, I believe you’ll be loyal to him so that no matter what temptations arise, you will never do anything to betray that trust.
You cannot claim to love either if you are sharing yourself with both. In your case, you seem willing to remain faithful to your current boyfriend. You need therefore to let the former boyfriend know that you are happy and will remain faithful to the one who has captured your heart since he left the scene. If he realizes you cannot be faithful to your current boyfriend, he won’t be able to trust you at all.
Make up your mind to remain faithful.
As the saying goes – all that glitters is not gold.
– CHRISTINE
