DLP will put lid on pit toilets

A Government minister yesterday promised his administration would eventually end the use of pit toilets across Barbados.
Minister of Small Business and Rural Development Dennis Kellman made the pledge in the House of Assembly after Member of Parliament for St Thomas Cynthia Forde pleaded with Minister of Housing Michael Lashley to seriously look into the troubles of more than 15 households in the village of Allen View.
Kellman said the Democratic Labour Party administration would try to ensure all Barbadians have water-bearing facilities.
“Unlike the other side, who in times of plenty did not do it, we will try to eradicate all pit toilets,” Kellman told the Chamber.
