DEAR CHRISTINE: Hurt by boyfriend’s rejection

Date:

Share post:

Dear Christine,
I am 25 years old and have been living with my boyfriend for the past four years.
We have a lovely daughter and have talked about getting married.
Now, all of a sudden and out of the blue, he has asked me to return home where my parents and my sister live. I have asked him why he is doing this when he knows quite well that I hate living at home.
What do you think I should do? He refuses to discuss the matter any further. He says he needs his space and his freedom. I am really hurt!
– D.B.
Dear D.B.,
I hope by the time you get your answer from me you would have made the right decision and returned home.
My question about this matter is, are you two going forward or backward?
First you’re discussing marriage and then he wants you to leave his house. That’s not a good sign! He’s clearly telling you that the relationship is over.
He certainly cannot want his freedom now and still have the desire to marry you anytime soon.
As humbling as it may sound, leave – and do not make any attempt to reconcile.
Give him his freedom, but make sure he supports his child.
– CHRISTINE
