Chris Gayle has signed an agreement paving the way for a possible return to the West Indies team, but an imminent comeback remains in doubt.
A year-long standoff between the controversial opening batsman and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) took a significant step towards a resolution after it was announced yesterday that Gayle had signed a CARICOM-brokered agreement between the two parties.
Gayle’s signature, however, was accompanied by a “side letter”, the contents of which were not disclosed.
In a media release following a WICB directors meeting in St Lucia, the board said Gayle’s “side letter” was provided by St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves.
