A SWIFT RESPONSE by employees and management of ACP Associates Limited brought a fire at their No. 43 Warrens Industrial Park location under control and averted a disaster yesterday.
According to Christopher Hill, ACP’s managing director and owner of the property, when the fire was detected around 1:30 p.m. in a defunct granite factory located behind the business’ warehouse, employees sprang into action and used in-house firefighting equipment to bring it under control.
He said the unused factory contained nothing valuable.
“We had our fire equipment inside and we started fighting the fire before the fire department came. From the time we realized the fire was on our plant . . . we rolled out our hose and were on it immediately.
“The fire did not reach inside the building and I thank God for that. Everybody got out of the building safely,” the director of the business providing a complete commercial interior furnishing package and residential flooring range to architects, interior designers and corporate entities told the MIDWEEK NATION.
Three fire tenders and 12 officers responded from the Barbados Fire Service’s Probyn Street headquarters and the Arch Hall Fire Station. (AH)
