The National Stadium is set to undergo some major renovations.
In just under a week, long overdue repairs to the athletic track and football field are due to get under way and the velodrome which surrounds the track is to be destroyed.
Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports Stephen Lashley announced these plans to the media yesterday  in the VIP Lounge of the Grantley Adams International Airport, shortly before flying out to London for the Olympics.
Flanked by Acting Permanent Secretary Ernesta Drakes and chairman of the National Sports Council, Seibert Straughn, Lashley revealed that MONDO, the company contracted to relay the 12-year-old track, was scheduled to commence work on Monday.
