TOO MANY BARBADIANS are taking the privilege of free education for granted.
Principal of Deighton Griffith Secondary School Cheryl Jordan-Moseley, who made this charge yesterday, said some countries larger than Barbados could not boast of free education, so it was imperative to make the most of it.
“[We have] free education from nursery to tertiary school,” she said. “How many others can boast of this feat? I visited Jamaica a little over a year ago in order to attend a week-long seminar along with principals from throughout the region.
“There were numerous references for the need for access to free secondary education . . . . [We] were amazed that . . . the Jamaican government was still trying to find the means by which to provide it. (CA)
