Revenue merger ‘nothing to fear’
Public officers need not worry about retrenchment when Government’s revenue collection agencies are merged under the Barbados Revenue Authority. Far from it, additional posts may be created.
And according to Minister of Finance Christopher Sinckler, working under a statutory board would have no political implications.
He gave that assurance following meetings with the Barbados Workers’ Union and the National Union of Public Workers on Monday.
“There is no intention to dislocate workers. This is not a retrenchment exercise. In fact, we may end up with some additional posts being created because we are looking at the total gamut of activities of these agencies and what is required.
