LIME issue ‘can be settled’
The door of Minister of Labour Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo remains open to warring factions LIME and the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU).
But even if industrial action does occur, the issue can still be settled to the benefit of both parties, she said.
“Of course, I would like them to come back to the bargaining table,” Byer-Suckoo told the SATURDAY SUN yesterday when asked if she was willing to meet with the parties once more.
Byer-Suckoo met with LIME managing director Alex McDonald and BWU general secretary Sir Roy Trotman last Tuesday in a five-hour session which ended in stalemate.
Afterwards, Sir Roy threatened that unless LIME withdrew 97 termination letters issued on January 2, he would call an islandwide strike.
