Two win twice at UWI Scimfest

LIVE?UP?men and Combermere Schools Old Scholars (CSOS) women posted two wins in the University of the West Indies Hockey Scimfest at the UWI Astro Turf last weekend.
On Friday, Live Up edged CSOS men 2-1 with goals from Emmerson Phillips (7th minute) and Akeem Rudder (22nd) while Shavon Goddard (7th) scored for CSOS.
This was followed by a 6-0 thrashing of the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) on Saturday. Rudder logged a hat trick in the 13th, 16th and 28 minutes while Mario Moore (1st), Romario Howell (18th) and Renaldo Holder (29th) joined in the goal feast.
CSOS?girls trounced Blackbirds 3-0 on Friday with Katrina Downes scoring an early brace in the 5th and 9th minutes, followed by Vanessa Chewitt’s 28th minute strike.
On Saturday, CSOS?blanked BB?Limerz 5-0 with a goal each from Camille Pounder (2nd), Chewitt (15th), D’Jamila Edwards (23rd), Teri Alleyne (27th) and Maria Sealy (29th).
Hockey Freekz women were also big 5-0 winners over UWI Hockey Club, courtesy a hat trick from Patrina Brathwaite (6th, 20th and 28th) and goals by Ayanna Wilson (16th) and Shakira Oxley (23rd).
UWI?Hockey Club men, piloted by an amazing five goals by Kris Holder (10th, 17th, 27th, 28th and 29th), upended Deacons 6-2 on Saturday.
Shane Lewis was the other goal scorer while Shonkeel Wharton scored in the 19th minute and Neil Franklin, in the 28th minute for Deacons, who were brought back to earth after their 5-2 win over All Stars, the previous day.
After goals by Franklin (9th) and Jamar Lashley (10th), Chad Ifill (22nd and 23rd) was on target twice and Keron Taylor completed the scoring. Damien Downes (20th) and Deron Harper (26th) got All Stars’ goals.
The UWI?side had also hammered BDF?5-0 on Friday with a double strike by Holder (3rd and 25th), and other goals by Lewis (15th), Bradley Harris (27th) and Kevin Belle (28th).
Cool Runnings men also registered two wins, beating Blackbirds 4-2 on Friday and All Stars 4-0 on Saturday to move to the top of the standings on maximum 12 points from four victories all told.
Akil Trotman-Grant (24th and 26th) scored twice after Che Warner (17th) and Jemar Small (22nd) had netted in Friday’s triumph. Che Roach (11th) and Matthew Williams (14th) were the goal scorers for Blackbirds. Small (13th), Laurando Davis (18th), Warner (21st) and Paul Gill (28th) were the goalscorers in Saturday’s win. Blackbirds, after a 23rd minute opening goal by Justin Catlin were held to a 1-1 draw by CSOS as Aaron Forde equalized, a minute later.
