Early morning accident in St Thomas

An accident involving a Transport Board bus and a privately-owned garbage truck created a mass casualty situation at Cane Garden, St Thomas this morning.
The bus was carrying 70 school children from the Grantley Adams Secondary School when the accident occurred around 8 a.m.
Reports are that 25 students are injured while the occupants of the garbage truck also received serious injuries.
Medical personnel headed by Dr David Byer from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital are on the scene treating the students and dispatching them to nearby polyclinics.
Police are asking motorists to avoid the area.
