THE MINISTRY EDUCATION has no plans to withdraw any of the transfers associated with the Alexandra School saga.
That is the word from Chief Education Officer Laurie King. He was responding to queries regarding the continuing absence on sick leave of some reassigned teachers.
The DAILY NATION also understands that one of the teachers who took ill after being transferred to Alexandra cannot work in a chalk environment.
When asked if some of the transfers would be reconsidered given the nature of some of the illnesses, King had this to say: “I’m not aware of any major problem with respect to sick leave, so we don’t have any immediate plans to reassign anyone. I don’t think that that is necessary. And then in any event, before something like that happens we would have to have a lot of discussions internally.”
