A MAJOR REFURBISHMENT programme is on the cards for Barbados’ district hospitals to make them more accessible to the elderly and the disabled.
Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development Steve Blackett made the disclosure on Thursday as he addressed a public awareness event held by the Vulnerable Persons Committee at Princess Margaret School in St Philip.
However, he did not go into details about the plans.
Blackett also said that people who wish to renovate their homes or make modifications to accommodate safety devices for the vulnerable would benefit from subsidies through a new Enhancement for Active Seniors Programme (EASE). (LK)
