We culture – Gabby, RPB see need for performing arts centre

The two most revered entertainers in this country, Anthony Gabby Carter and Stedson Red Plastic Bag Wiltshire, have called for a private sector and Government alliance to set the stage for what they see as the overdue establishment of a performing arts centre.
Red Plastic Bag (RPB), the winner of a record ten Calypso Monarch titles and Gabby, the holder of nine crowns, thinks that entertainers are being shortchanged as they do not have a facility that specifically caters to them.
“I want a facility purely for the performing arts. I do not mean calypso solely; I am referring to dance, drama, poetry and fashion. That venue must have an area for rehearsing and proper dressing and bathroom facilities,” Gabby said yesterday.
The flamboyant Gabby and the irrepressible RPB voiced their concerns to the DAILY?NATION, following news that the Plantation Restaurant and Garden Theatre was about to close.
