CHILDREN in the St Christopher and Silver Sands, Christ Church community now have the opportunity to brush upon their reading skills with the establishment of the Reaching Your Fullest Potential Reading Club.
The club, which was set up by the Community Development Department in collaboration with the Silver Sands HIV/AIDS education committee, offers twice-weekly reading sessions to children aged seven to ten. It was launched on Monday at the CHC Gates of Praise Church. Its coordinator is Tiffany Jones, who is a social work student of the University of the West Indies (UWI).
Jones said that she visited over 25 households in the community and several people suggested to her that a reading club in the St Christopher and Silver Sands community was necessary.
Jones, a resident of Enterprise, is in her final semester at UWI and is conducting the project as one of the requirements for her degree programme. (LK)
