MATERNAL HEALTH CARE will be one of the primary areas of focus when the Barbados Nurses Association continues its activities this week.
As they celebrated International Nurses Day with a church service at St Cyprian’s Anglican Church to commence their Nurses Week activities, Barbados Nurses Association vice-president Margarette Wilson said this year’s theme is Closing The Gap: The Millennium Development Goals and they will  focus on health-related goals, No. 6, 5 and 4.
Goal No. 4 is to reduce child mortality, No. 5 is to improve maternal health and goal No. 6 is to combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.
Wilson said if they can fight domestic violence, prevent the death of yet another woman . . . if they  can stamp out AIDS and cancer, then they can  boast achievements. (LK)
