Barbadians are being encouraged to wear green on Wednesday  in celebration of World Environment Day.
School children, public officers, and all citizens are being urged to wear green shirts, green ribbons or green articles of clothing in celebration of the day which will be celebrated under the theme: Think, Eat, Save.
Environmental Education Officer in the Ministry of the Environment and Drainage, Donna King-Brathwaite, said this year the focus was on getting people to make wise decisions in what they ate and to reduce wastage.
She added that all those who wore green on the day would be demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship.
The theme for this year’s Environment Month is: Living Sustainably: An Ecofriendly Lifestyle for a Healthy Nation. It is designed to highlight the relationship between health and the environment and reinforce Government’s mandate to make Barbados a Green Economy.
