ATTORNEY?AT?LAW?David Comissiong has charged that there is unrest at the Barbados Prison Service that relates to 53 unappointed temporary officers and several more that are facing supersession.
Comissiong, who is acting on behalf of the Barbados Prison Officers Association, told the MIDWEEK?NATION the issue of staff appointments at the prison service appeared to constitute a breach of Section 13 of the Public Service Act, 2007 – 41.
He has forwarded a letter outlining concerns to David Bowen, chairman of the Public Service Commission.
“The staff at the prison service generally speaking are very unhappy about the lack of appointments and also with senior officers, who have served in acting positions for years, being passed over for promotion.
