RHEA CUMMINS-JORDAN is a budding fashion designer and until recently was pursuing an associate degree in fashion design at the Barbados Community College (BCC).
The 20-year-old is a popular face on the local fashion scene and says she was discovered back stage by internationally known make-up artist Gregg Williams.
“I didn’t want to be a model, I am not very girly, but after hanging out with the other girls I became more open-minded to the concept,” she said.
True to her tomboy nature, petite Rhea says she has always disliked long hair.
“I couldn’t wait to finish high school and as soon as I was at BCC I cut it all off. That was a relief, complete freedom!” she exclaimed.
Rhea plans to parlay her modelling experience into a platform for her career as a designer.
“I currently work at an exclusive resort-wear boutique on the West Coast and I love getting to know the intimate details of how the industry works, all the behind-the-scenes stuff as well as the front-of-house stuff, from ordering to styling the clothes on regular people.”
In her spare time she works diligently on her art and hopes to have her first collection ready for viewing in the next six to eight months.
