LOCAL?HOTELIERS say they are benefiting tremendously from written reviews posted on – one of the most widely used online travel sites in the world.
In fact, some hotels have acknowledged that the majority of their guests made bookings as a result of reviews on the website.
Executive vice-president of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA),?Sue Springer, said TripAdvisor had changed how hoteliers do business.
The website attracts 200 million unique visitors monthly and has over 100 million reviews covering 2.5 million accommodations, restaurants and attractions.
Hotels in Barbados, especially small hotels, value the free exposure which they get from published reviews by travellers. Some of them have also benefited by receiving many travellers choice awards.
