At 11:00 AM data from a Reconnaissance plane indicate that Barbados and Martinique radar indicate that the centre of Tropical Storm Chantal was located near latitude 14.4 North, and 61.5 longitude West.
Chantal is moving toward the west-northwest near 26mph…43km/h and this general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days.
The centre of Chantal will move away from the Lesser Antilles later today and move over the Eastern Caribbean Sea this afternoon and tonight.
Maximum sustained winds are near 60mph, 85km/h with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 90 miles, 150 km, mainly to the north of the centre.
