Opposition Leader Mia Mottley and her Barbados Labour Party (BLP) colleagues walked out of the House of Assembly tonight after Speaker Michael Carrington struck a number of statements off the record.
Mottley had risen to her feet on three occasions on a point of order, interrupting the contribution being made by Minister of Finance, Chris Sinckler.
The Leader of the Opposition also asked Carrington to have Sinckler’s comments regarding a possible forensic audit of the BLP clarified by having the official record of the Lower House checked, but that too was denied by the Speaker.
At exactly 7.04 p.m Mottley and her 12 colleagues left the chamber in protest. Former Opposition Leader and MP for St Peter, Owen Arthur was not present.
Sinckler continued his contribution for another 29 minutes before the business of the day was suspended until next Tuesday. (BA)
