Barbados will play host to Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and his wife, Caroline, who arrived for a two-day visit today.
Archbishop of the Church of the Province of the West Indies and Bishop of Barbados Dr John Holder welcomed his British counterpart to the island.
Holder said Welby was here to observe how Anglicans in Barbados, Guatemala and Mexico were living and sharing the faith.
“We are very, very pleased to have him with us at this time, their first visit of the Caribbean, and we’re sure they will come again,” Holder said.
In acknowledging Holder’s welcome, Welby said the Province of the West Indies was one they look to in the Anglican Communion for an example in being a “bridge” province with people around the communion. (YB)
