DEAR CHRISTINE: Manager has eyes for me
Dear Christine,
I am having mixed feelings about a certain gentleman who holds a senior position in the company I work for.
I suppose what is threatening to happen is partly my fault in that I did not stop it when I saw it coming. Here is my story.
I got a good junior position in this company and this particular person showed me kindness, like a father would.
He is nice to others too, but I’ve found out it is me he is interested in and it’s me he promised to look after and love if I would just trust him. I am 18 and he is in his late 50s.
At times I feel I love him, but I am not sure, so I am writing to you about this situation.
– AJ
Dear AJ,
I am getting some bad vibes about this situation. The mere fact that he has a senior position in the company and you’re a junior tells me you may feel led to do what he asks.
Tell him that while you like the attention you’re receiving, you do not want to have a relationship with him.
If he is in his late 50s, he is old enough to be your grandfather.
In any case, I doubt you’ll find any lasting happiness in a relationship with him. Be gracious but be firm and say no. He’ll respect you for it.
