ONE?OF?Barbados’ oldest clubs, CounterPoint Wanderers, will be returning to the Barbados Cricket Association’s (BCA) LIME Elite Division next year after being relegated in 2010.
Yesterday, they won the First Division title with a comprehensive 162-run win over Banks Wildey at Dayrells Road to finish on 120 points, five more than their nearest challengers Premix and Precast Yorkshire, who were second on 115 points.
Wanderers’ victory was their fifth of the season, while they had two losses, one draw and a no-decision
In a radio interview with the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation after victory was achieved, experienced all-rounder and stand-in captain Ian Bradshaw said he was happy for the club.
“A lot of hard work went into this season, he said. “There was a lot of dedication for these guys who stuck with the club and I’m glad we will be able to renew rivalries such as Wanderers and Spartan and Wanderers and St Catherine . . . and we are proud to be back in the Elite.
“I think the club will continue to grow and I can only wish for all the other clubs in this division to keep pressing.
“I think we had to come up against some tough opposition and it is a credit to the First Division,” he added.
Bradshaw also had praise for a number of members of the team. (EDH/EZS)
