BARBADOS HAS 13 outstanding reports for the International Labour Organization (ILO).
While noting that 11 reports have already been submitted, Minister of Labour Senator Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo admitted earlier today that Barbados has been tardy in responding even though the ministry has the relevant reporting processes.
She explained that her ministry was not always the designated national competent authority to speak to the specific questions, which cut across departments and ministries.
Suckoo told participants at a three-day workshop on International Labour Standards and Reporting Obligations at the Government’s Warrens Office Complex that Barbados has always been committed to the principal of accountability to the ILO, however. (YB)
