Fatman gunned down
One of this country’s foremost dub artistes has been silenced.
Irvin Fatman Weekes was gunned down while at Londy’s Bar, Wharton Gap, St Michael, around 2 a.m. yesterday.
Reports indicate that the 1984 winner of the Richard Stoute Teen Talent Competition had gone to speak to the proprietor about playing music there.
Tributes flowed in yesterday as people remembered the 47-year-old chanter as a humble and jovial individual.
He is the second of the trio A Thousand Pounds Of Blubber with Mighty Whitey and Biggie Irie, which brought the hits Fit For Life and Rub Yuh Belly Pon Me, to pass on. Mighty Whitey succumbed to complications from diabetes last year. (YB)
