Shooting in Ivy last night

Article by SHERRYLYN CLARKE

ONE DAY AFTER former entertainer Patrick “Fatman” Weekes was shot to death, police are investigating a shooting which occurred last night in the Ivy, St Michael.
Christopher Branker, 35, was shot by an unknown person around 8:50 p.m. while he was among a group of men at 4th Avenue, Ivy.
Branker received a gunshot wound to his right shoulder and suffered a fractured bone in the same arm. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by private transportation, where he was treated and discharged.
Weekes lost his life in the early hours of Monday morning in Londy’s Bar, Wharton Gap, St Michael, when a number of men fired shots, causing patrons to scatter.
Meanwhile, in another incident, detectives in the Northern Division have arrested and charged 44-year-old Victor Sylvester Waithe of Content, St Thomas.
He has been charged with use of a firearm, serious bodily harm and criminal damage.
Waithe, who was wanted by police, was accused of causing bodily harm to Derrick Haynes, use of a firearm and causing damage to a vehicle on September 13 in Content.
He appeared at the District D Police Station this morning and was remanded until November 5. (PR)
