‘Red tape’ didn’t stop show
THE BARBADOS TOURISM AUTHORITY (BTA) has denied that Government red tape was behind the postponement of the local concert leg of Rihanna’s Diamonds tour.
In a news release issued yesterday, the BTA insisted that the problem had to do solely with logistical difficulties, as stated by the concert organizers when they announced last week that the show would no longer take place on Friday.
“Entertainment company RocNation, which provides artist management for Rihanna, informed the BTA on Thursday night of the postponement of the Rihanna Diamonds World Tour show,” the release said. “It was explained that there were challenges with transporting equipment to Barbados in time for the crews to successfully complete construction of the stage.
“It was always understood that there were logistical risks and challenges with shipping, as a large segment of the set needed to be transported to Barbados subsequent to shows in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico this coming week.”
