‘Going global’ key for local artists

Local musicians are being encouraged to look beyond these shores for growth in revenues and development of their product.
The advice came from Stephen Lubin, managing director of CRS Music and Media Limited, who noted that local musicians were too focused on the domestic market.
Lubin made the comments yesterday during day two of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) seminar and workshop at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. The workshop was held under the theme Converting EU Market Access Into Tangible Benefits: How Can Your Business Benefit From The CARIFORUM-EU EPA.
“The fundamental problem is that local artists are not looking at the global market,” said Lubin.
“A lot of people don’t look beyond the island and that is what you [need] to do. Honestly, CRS Music would not be in existence today if we tried to survive on our domestic market. Our domestic market is absolutely negligible,” said Lubin. (MM)
