Tension between two Government departments performing critical security roles at the airport could escalate following the recent criminal charging of a customs guard.
It follows an altercation between the guard and a police officer at Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) last June.
Owen Moseley, 47, of Christ Church, who was served by summons last week, is accused of unlawfully obstructing Constable Everton Gittens in the execution of his duties.
The incident, which is alleged to have occurred June 28, had sparked a protest by customs officers attached to the airport after their colleague was then arrested and taken to Oistins Police Station. It reportedly followed a confrontation over a traveller’s luggage.
