The Salvation Army is about to launch its annual Christmas Kettle Appeal on behalf of the less fortunate.
Major Rosemarie Brown, head of The Salvation Army in Barbados and St Lucia announced that the appeal will start on Thursday with a launch ceremony at Jubilee Gardens in The City.
“We are once again urging Barbadians to come out in their numbers and support the launch which helps to give early momentum to our Kettle and Letter appeals. We have always found Barbadians to be very caring people and even during times of recession. Barbadian people give more, and those who have benefitted also take the opportunity to give back,” Brown said.
This major fund-raising effort on the Salvation Army calendar is being sponsored by the Scotia Foundation, and the Army is hoping to raise BDS $700 000 to support its social service programmes for 2013 – 2014. (PR)
