Top of the honours

Barbados’ newest knights Sir Trevor Carmichael (right) and Sir Trevor Hassell head the list of outstanding citizens honoured for their contribution to Barbados over 47 years of independence, in the Barbados National Honours of Independence announced today.
A prominent attorney and Queen’s Counsel, Sir Trevor Carmichael has been deputy secretary-general of the International Bar Association and also serves as a panel member of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes of the World Bank in Washington.
Sir Trevor Hassell was a consultant physician and cardiologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for many years, founder of that institution’s Cardiac Unit, head of the Department of Medicine and Director of Medical services. (GC)
