THE HISTORY OF education in Barbados will soon be chronicled.
Barbadian educator and author, Dr Dan Carter, said he was working to release a book on the history of local education in the near future.
“Each Caribbean island has its own unique past in terms of education and it is long overdue for Barbados’ history to be told,” he told the SATURDAY SUN on Thursday after the launch of his latest book The Story Of Society Primary School (1795 to 2006) at the College Hill, St John campus.
He added that the manuscript was already completed and will be his third book. The first focused on the history of the Lawrence T. Gay Primary School.
The 47-page Story Of Society Primary School provided a history of the school’s beginnings as the first school for blacks on the island until the modern era. The school has been slated for relocation, after it was deemed “unfit for teaching and learning”.  (LW)
