QEH shortages to be resolved
Minister of Health John Boyce has given his assurance that the much-lamented shortages at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), to which the Barbados Nurses’ Association added its voice yesterday, will be sorted out.
In a brief reaction to calls by Independent senator Professor Henry Fraser and the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners (BAMP) for the shortage of basic drugs and other supplies to be discussed at the highest level of Government, Boyce told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday that the process was being handled.
“I have the assurance of our suppliers. We are working with them. We know that we’re going to sort things out very soon,” he said following Fraser’s description of the QEH situation as ”a Christmas crisis and a New Year’s crisis”.
Boyce said, however, that shortages were “a daily thing” and emphasized “we are dealing with it” and that the process must be managed very carefully.
