PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – Andre Russell took three wickets and then hit the winning runs as Jamaica beat Ireland by six wickets in Match 5 of the NAGICO Super50 tournament at Queen’s Park Oval tonight.
The seam bowler had the impressive figures of three for 19 from eight overs and then smashed two big sixes in 12 not out to take home the Man-of-the-Match trophy.
Jamaican opening batsman John Campbell scored 71 with six fours and two sixes.
Ireland were bowled out for 161 and Jamaica raced to 166 for four off 29 overs to win and secure a bonus point. In his return to regional cricket, pacer Jerome Taylor took three for 33.
The victory took Jamaica to the top of Zone A on nine points. Ireland have lost both of their matches so far.
