SOCIAL MEDIA is proving to be a major challenge for crime scene investigators.
The woman who holds responsibility for training first responders at scenes said civilians who took photographs of crime scenes and posted them on facebook and other media could affect the outcome of an investigation.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the second First Responders Course at the Regional Security System Training Institute at Paragon, Christ Church, for this year, director of training Yvonne Alexander told the SATURDAY SUN that one of the main problems came when civilians took photographs and “it goes viral in no time at all”.
“Sometimes this creates more harm. Number one, there is the trauma to the relatives of the individual who probably do not even have the information yet that there has been a serious incident.
