A SMALL, but vocal audience turned up at Princess Margaret Secondary School yesterday evening for a town hall meeting to discuss the topic of productivity.
At the end of the near three-hour long meeting organised by the Productivity Council, participants heard of the importance of a good work ethic; employee, supervisor and employer responsibility; self-awareness and an understanding that Barbados needs to know where it is going in a global context.
The implementation of work appraisals was also highlighted, not as a tool to punish, but to ensure a better employee.
Panellists included Minister of Labour and Social Security Dr Esther Byer Suckoo; Jeremy Stephen, an economic and financial consultant; Ulric Sealy, retired deputy general secretary of the Barbados Workers Union and retired principal of the Labour College and Edward Bushell, president of the Barbados Association of Retired Persons.
