2 beaten – Latest bullying victims nursing severe injuries
TWO CHRIST CHURCH parents are calling for stiffer penalties to be meted out to children who bully others, after their daughter was beaten by a male student last week Wednesday.
Their call came yesterday as a St Michael mother kept vigil outside the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where her son is warded after developing complications due to the beatings he reportedly received at the hands of four children from his school.
These are the latest bullying incidents involving severe injuries reported to the DAILY NATION.
In the first, Toni Weekes and Daniel Maynard contend that the two-week suspension – which is what the code of discipline for schools for such infractions allow – cannot be adequate punishment for any violent assault so severe that the victim has to get a fortnight of sick leave from school to recover.
