Obama urges Americans to sign up for health insurance
WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama says about four million people have signed up for health insurance through federal or state marketplaces set up under his health care law. The White House has set an unofficial goal of seven million enrolees by the end of March.
Obama yesterday urged his most vocal supporters to help sign up as many people as possible for the federal health care law by that deadline.
Obama says at an organising summit for Organising for Action that people must be assured that, quote, “this will pay off for them”.
The advocacy group was founded by former Obama campaign aides and supporters.
Open enrolment under the federal law ends on March 31, after which people without insurance are subject to federal tax penalties.
