Health officials to blame

HEALTH OFFICIALS were responsible for the death of baby Simeon whose head was cut open during a caesarean section last Saturday in Trinidad.
These are the preliminary findings in a report by the North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) ahead of an independent investigation into what exactly went wrong.
The 15-page report was presented to Health Minister Dr Fuad Khan yesterday and it allegedly raised concerns about the competence of the doctors to perform the surgery at Mount Hope Women’s Hospital.
In addition, no senior consultant appears to have been on duty. The young doctor, who recently obtained specialisation in obstetrics, has been suspended with basic pay.
Meanwhile, Simeon’s parents Emil Millington and Quelly Ann Cottle have retained an attorney.
Millington has also accepted an offer from the NCRHA to pay for Simeon’s funeral.  (Express)
