DEAR CHRISTINE: Pregnant girlfriend turned off sex

Dear Christine,
Keep up the good work you’re doing. Personally I would like to see when you can print a whole page of letters instead of one or two at a time. I just love to read this column.
Anyhow, here is my situation. I have this problem with my girlfriend. We are both in our 20s and used to have sex fairly regularly until now that she is pregnant. She does not want to have sex anymore and says I like sex way too much.
Do you think that twice a week is too much for two healthy people? She also says that we must not do that now because she could lose the baby and that the doctor told her that when she is three months pregnant, she must stop making love.
Could you please shed some light on this matter for both our sakes? I do not want to be unfaithful but I can see how in some cases a man becomes unfaithful because when he needs his girl, she denies him. My girlfriend is not physically or mentally sick.

Dear C,
I think you need to discuss this matter with your doctor, since some of the information you’ve shared seems falsified.
Most women who are pregnant will, at some point in time, become turned off from sex. There are also those who crave sex more.
Emotionally, physically and mentally, these women are going through many changes. In your case, it is not an indication that your girlfriend does not love or care for you, but you must be patient and exercise some measure of understanding.
I do understand your problem and I am glad to know that you are trying to find an answer rather than rush off with someone else.
You will need to exercise more restraint, but also take time out to cuddle and caress your girlfriend as much as you can. Sometimes, that’s all a woman needs.
In short, work with her, but also have that discussion with the doctor.
– CHRISTINE
