Dreadlocked priest

THE SANCTUARY at St Luke’s Anglican Church in Brighton, St George, took on an interesting look yesterday.
While dreadlocked styles are not unusual for the servers and choristers, it is still a rarity among the male clergy and those in training.
It was not his first time there, but Codrington College student Aaron Charles, of Trinidad and Tobago, still drew some attention with his neatly styled locks. Charles was the preacher at the 8:30 a.m. service, where members of the Barbados Association of Professional Social Workers were in attendance.
He centred his address around baptism, and reminded worshippers that baptism starts with water and follows through one’s life.
While noting that everyone has a cross to bear and that life is sometimes punctuated with loneliness, darkness and the wilderness, Charles said God never leaves us.
