Sandy Lane building on success

SANDY LANE has done well in 2013 and looks to do even better this year.
General manager Randall Wilkie said the five diamond resort was beating the odds in the recession and would be expanding its business model.
“Our occupancy for last year was 64 per cent and, whilst our competitors battled with diminished occupancy and still do, we were able to increase our occupancy and we have started this year positively, with our occupancy for January and February improving over last year.
“We seek to identify, implement and support succession planning and training and develop initiatives that will ensure knowledge transfer and the development of people. We are also seeking to improve our reputation in the community by implementing organizational best practices and expanding our commitment to our social and environmental responsibilities,” he said.
Wilkie was speaking as the resort toasted its best of the best on Monday evening as it held its annual awards ceremony in the Cassia & Bougainvillea Spa meeting room.
The five diamond resort recognised staff for categories such as perfect attendance, of which more than 300 qualified; long service; centre court; outfield; star of the year and coach of the year. In addition, there was a worship session by Allison Norville-Forde; messages from chairman Dermot Desmond; a feature address from managing director of Green Globe Caribbean, Wendy Walker-Drakes and a toast and cake-cutting ceremony.
