MANAGEMENT AT Rayside Construction will now have to take a critical look at the sudden hike in sand prices to see how it will affect the Green Hill, St Michael business.
Word of this came from director of operations and human resources, Herbert Harewood, who was speaking as the company held a soft launch of a new line of tinted concrete products, a joint venture with Asphalt Processors Inc. and EZ Pave.
Admitting that the hike in sand prices had taken the industry by surprise, Harewood added: “We are now in the process of reviewing a number of processes in order to be able to manage this 85 per cent increase in production cost.”
He noted that with the economic downturn, management of the company had been reviewing operations and had started rotating staff according to the projects with which it was involved.
